The details of support available can change, so before you apply it's best to speak to the named contact to check exactly what they offer.
Here at ARU we are committed to supporting care leavers and care experienced students throughout their higher education experience. It is an exciting time, but we know it can be daunting, so we will support you every step of the way.
Our Outreach team offer support before you apply through events and activities to help you navigate university life, help with your UCAS form, pre-entry advice and admission support. For more information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. They will also contact you if you tick the care leaver box on your UCAS form to make sure you are aware of the support available.
Then the Student Experience Team (myself, Elly Page, Adele Woodhams and Jamie Carson) are here to support you throughout your studies and to answer any questions you might have and you can reach us by emailing email@example.com. We also offer a peer support group, priority for accommodation for the duration of your course, money advice and the ARU Care Leaver Bursary, plus access to other specialist student support including Counselling and Wellbeing, Disability and Dyslexia Support and Employability.
If you need further advice or guidance, please either look on our website (https://aru.ac.uk/study/more-information-for-applicants/care-leavers) or email us. We hope to hear from you soon!
