The details of support available can change, so before you apply it's best to speak to the named contact to check exactly what they offer.
Aston University received the highest award in the government's new Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), TEF Gold. Birmingham is a vibrant and diverse city, and Aston University is based right at the heart of it.
We are committed to supporting care leavers, and we welcome applications from you. We will send you information pre-entry, so please ensure that you have indicated your experience of being in care on your UCAS application. You could also be entitled to a scholarship in each year of your course.
During your work placement you could be earning an average of £16,000, developing your workplace skills and making connections within industry. Our Aston support fund is available if you have financial issues at any point during your studies, and we will consider your application as a priority. Support is available in many areas, such as study skills and academic writing. We can provide you with the opportunity to become a mentor, or paid employment as a student ambassador.
We work with the Unite Foundation to offer 365 days of free accommodation to selected students, the deadline for applications varies each year, and you can find out more about this at https://www2.aston.ac.uk/scholarships/care-leavers/index.
