The details of support available can change, so before you apply it's best to speak to the named contact to check exactly what they offer.

We are very proud of our support and long-term commitment to care-experienced students. From preparing for university to getting the most out of it once you’re here, we can guide you each step of the way.

As well as financial and emotional support, we offer academic assistance such as study skills, and can help you to secure 365-day accommodation. During the year we run workshops specifically for care-experienced students on careers, funding and confidence-building, as well as fun social events.

There are also opportunities to get involved in our student ambassador scheme, mentoring projects and tailored work placements at the university.

London Metropolitan University offers many financial support schemes for its students, including a specific care leaver’s bursary of £1,500 per progressive year for qualifying students. Care leavers are treated as a priority group for both the hardship and summer hardship support funds, which are considered on an individual case-by case basis.

We will also ensure that you are receiving the correct funding. We will help with any problems with your funding application and any late payments from Student Finance England. We can also help you find alternative support, e.g. from charities or trusts.

If you think you may have a disability or long-term health issue, our friendly disabilities and dyslexia team will help you with your DSA application, and help identify other support we can offer.

We work with the Unite Foundation to offer 365 days of free accommodation to selected students, the deadline for applications is 1 June each year, and you can find out more about this at: http://www.unitefoundation.co.uk/.
