The details of support available can change, so before you apply it's best to speak to the named contact to check exactly what they offer.
Strathclyde Cares is our range of support and activities specifically for those from looked after backgrounds. We are committed to encouraging more applications and supporting our care leavers once they are students with us.
We are happy to provide tours of the university and subject departments, and our Care Adviser, Debbie Duncan can talk you through the application process.
It is sometimes possible for us to make lower offers of entry to those who have spent time in care, to recognise the additional barriers they might have faced during their education.
As a student with us, you can receive year-round accommodation, you will be guaranteed an interview to become a student ambassador, and you will be matched with a mentor - a friendly member of staff who will support and advise you throughout your time with us.
We can also help with graduation costs when you are ready for the next stage of your career.

You are also welcome to apply if you come from a care background but did not tell us on your UCAS application.
If successful, students are awarded £1,250 per academic year for the duration of their degree, to help with the costs of being a student.
Our student finance office is also able to provide advice and support on financial matters
